Are you from a Small Island Developing State (SIDS) and dreaming of a Master’s degree in the UK? ✈️🎓 Here’s your chance to level up your skills, grow as a leader, and make a difference back home — for free!
Starting in 2026, the UK Government will offer up to 40 fully funded Master’s scholarships under two prestigious schemes:
✅ The Chevening SIDS Scholarships
✅ The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) SIDS Scholarships
✅ Fully funded scholarships for small island states!
🎯 What’s This All About?
Announced during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa, this new scholarship initiative is the UK’s commitment to empower talented students from island nations that face unique challenges like climate change, economic vulnerability, and sustainable development.
🎓 What’s on Offer?
Everything is covered for you!
If you win one of these scholarships, you’ll get:
🌟 1️⃣ Chevening SIDS Scholarships
The Chevening Scholarships are world-famous for producing future leaders. Now, there’s a dedicated track for SIDS students from 25 countries, including:
Trinidad and Tobago, Maldives, Seychelles, Fiji, Belize, Singapore, Samoa, Mauritius, Jamaica, Papua New Guinea, and many more.
How does it work?
When you apply through the normal Chevening portal, just tick the box for Chevening SIDS — simple! The top-ranking applicant(s) from each country will be considered.
👉 Bonus: Choosing the SIDS option does not reduce your chance of winning the standard Chevening — it just opens up more opportunities!
Chevening SIDS perks:
🌍 2️⃣ Commonwealth SIDS Scholarships (CSC)
Alongside Chevening, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission is offering 20 additional Master’s places for SIDS students under the same UK initiative.
Applications follow the standard CSC process, which means you’ll need a nomination by your national agency (like your Ministry of Education). For example, in the Solomon Islands, the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) handles nominations.
Eligible CSC SIDS countries include:
Nauru, Fiji, Saint Lucia, Maldives, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Samoa, Belize, Papua New Guinea, Dominica, Tonga, Jamaica, Guyana, Mauritius, and more.
